The John von Neumann Institute for Computing (NIC) has aproved our project proposal for the JUQUEEN supercomputer at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. Together with the STEllAR group we will work on Auto-tuned Large-scale Simulations on BG/Q with LibGeoDecomp and HPX. That's the project's title. It consists of three subprojects:

  1. Single Node Optimizations: verctorization of kernels and adaptation to the hardware threading scheme on Blue Gene/Q.
  2. Scaling of HPX on BG/Q: interfacing HPX' parcel ports with the native communication infrastructure of BG/Q; process placement.
  3. Auto-tuning for LibGeoDecomp: automatic adaptation of model-specific parameters to optimize running time. (Yes, Knuth would find an analytic formula for each and every parameter. Auto-tuning is just more time-efficient in terms of developer time.
